Panel discussion with:
Jeremy Bouman currently serves RISE as the Founder and CEO. Prior to starting RISE, he served for 7 years as Associate Vice President of Development at Creighton University. Jeremy has 20 years of leadership experience in higher education and non-profit organizations in New York City, Baltimore, and Omaha. He earned a BA in Communications from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and a Masters of Science in Leadership from Creighton University.
Abby Kossow is the program director of Project Reset, a program in the Nebraska Center for Workplace Development and Education. The program mentors justice-involved individuals into a life changing career in the skilled labor and trades. They work closely with unions on apprenticeships.
Lisa Laws works at the Nebraska Department of Labor as the Reemployment Services Administrator. She is well versed in some of the programs that Nebraska has available to assist with hiring and retaining individuals with a justice-involved background including the Fidelity Bonds Program, WIOA, and WOTC.
Marji VoorVart is the LIFE Employment Coach with Metropolitan Community College’s 180 Re-entry Assistance Program (180 RAP). Marji has been with 180 RAP since 2015. As a Peer Mentor, Marji helped connect the incarcerated and re-entry populations to family sustaining employment. Marji also helped build and maintain employment partners with over 200 companies in various industries in the Omaha metro area. In her new role as LIFE Employment Coach, Marji is providing focused education and employment support to incarcerated individuals planning to return to the Omaha area and workforce upon release.
